Aren’t all reverse mortgages the same? Does it really matter from where and from whom you get your reverse mortgage from? It’s true that most reverse mortgages issued today are the FHA insured Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) version that follow the rules outlined by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and they did receive significant improvements after the 2008 housing crisis, but all reverse mortgages are not created equal, and not all lenders or brokers offer the same rates and costs.
